Saproling Storm!

Postby Arcanis222 » 27 May 2009, 19:19

A simple deck, using all of the decent Fungus, and a few cards that agree with them, To make a swarm of saprolings, (Support Spells Included) It works really well, There are quite a few neat little interactions in the deck.
Creatures/Spells
4 - Thelonite Hermit
4 - Thallid Shell-dweller
4 - Mycoloth
4 - Sporesower Thallid
4 - Psychotrope Thallid
4 - Greener Pastures
4 - Gaea's Anthem
4 - Kodama's Reach
2 - Nemata, Grove Guardian
2 - Garruk Wildspeaker

Lands -
24 - Forest.

Enjoy.

I second the opinion that people should post the decks they describe in this forum.
O forest, hold thy wand'ring son
Though fears assail the door.
O foliage, cloak thy ravaged one
In vestments cut for war.

Nice deck. I made a saproling deck myself a while ago and realised that I never posted it here.
So here it is...

60 Total Cards

24 Creatures
-------------
4x Essence Warden
4x Fyndhorn Elves
4x Mycoloth
4x Nemata, Grove Guardian
4x Rhys the Redeemed
4x Thelonite Hermit

16 Spells
----------
4x Defense of the Heart
4x Gaea's Anthem
4x Mox Emerald
4x Worldly Tutor

20 Land
--------
20x Forest

You want an Essence Warden out early, then Rhys and the Hermit. Play the hermit face down, flip it for tokens then drop a Mycoloth and use Rhys to overflow the board.
Nemata adds extra punching power to your tokens.
Alternatively, Defense of the Heart can help get the big boys out early, just make sure you have tokens in play before you play the Mycoloth.

Beware, this is the deck that I used to check for slowdowns in game and with loads of tokens generated at the start of your turn and then add life gain from the warden, the game gets RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREALLY slow!
But it is a fun deck so enjoy!

Updated my saproling deck.

60 Total Cards

26 Creatures
-------------
4x Essence Warden
4x Fyndhorn Elves
4x Mycoloth
4x Nemata, Grove Guardian
2x Nullmage Shepherd
4x Rhys the Redeemed
4x Thelonite Hermit

14 Spells
----------
2x Defense of the Heart
4x Gaea's Anthem
2x Kodama's Reach
3x Mox Emerald
3x Worldly Tutor

20 Land
--------
20x Forest

Added 2 land grabbing cards and 2 Nullmage Shepherds to deal with artifacts and enchantments.
With the search cards, 2 shepherds is enough and you will have plenty of rokens to tap as payment for the shepherd.
There does seem to be an issue at times when trying to use the sheperd more than once, but hopefully that will be no real problem while playing and fixed soonish.
