So I'm just about ready to release the next version with draft and sealed deck support, but first I wanted to throw out a teaser for something brand new I'm adding to the deck editor: an "Add Lands" dialog for adding basic lands to a deck.

AddLands.png

For draft and sealed, instead of having a couple hundred basic lands added to your sideboard automatically, you'll be able to manually add only the basic lands you want. In addition, the dialog has an Auto button which will automatically calculate the optimum number of each basic you should add based on the color breakdown of your deck's non-land cards and the colors provided by lands and other mana producers already in the deck. I'm probably going to disable this Auto button for 1.5.20.002 so I can get the release out sooner, but that's one of the next things I'm going to add.

Already working however will be support for selecting exactly which set you want the land art to come from, and even which specific art within the set you want for each basic land. "Assorted Art" will mean that an assortment of all available art within the selected set will be used for that land. Note that the most recent set in your pool will be used as the default selection, but you're free to change it, even to a set not available to your pool. So if you're playing a Mirage draft but like Zendikar lands, no problem.

Let me know what you think. Hopefully I'll be able to add something like this to the desktop version in the near future.

Thanks.

Alright, 1.5.20.003 is finally released!!! Yes, you heard right, that's 003. 002 had a couple bugs I had to fix up really quickly.

With this release, two new buttons on the home screen are now enabled: Booster Draft and Sealed Deck. You can now create new draft and sealed deck games, as well as load previously saved ones.

DeckEditor.png

Let me know what you think of the new editor screen. Note that at this point, the only way to pick cards while drafting or move cards between the main deck and sideboard when deck building (which you can do while drafting) is to double tap them. I plan to add other ways in the near future, such as menus, I just haven't nailed down the best way yet. Any ideas are welcome.

Also note that options to Add Basic Lands, Rename Deck, and Delete Deck are available in a menu that opens when you tap the "..." button next to the Save button.

Thanks.

You are amazing. I don't have time tonight to test it out, but I'll definitely be playing drafts all day tomorrow while waiting for people. Can't wait to try it!

Incredible! Just ran through a quick draft and the experience was just about as good as you would want it to be on a mobile device. Card selection and deck building was flawless! Excellent work! =D>

Awesome job.
Just four things I will comment on:
(Playing on my Nexus 5 phone)

1) Gameplay slows down quite a bit the longer the game goes. I know this is probably the AI having to think harder with more cards out in play - hoping this may be optimized in future releases (not dumbed down.. heh heh).

2) Viewing cards. I'm not totally familiar with the cards so I have to zoom in on a lot of them. Would it be possible to be able to zoom in on one card, and then just swipe (left / right) to scroll through the other cards while still zoomed? As it is now I zoom, read the card, unzoom, pick the next card, zoom again... Swiping would make it much easier - and then double tap in zoomed mode to select the card.

3) Did a draft game. Named the deck. Edited the deck and added the land cards. The "*" was beside the deck name (*mikedeck1) - i figured that was to tell me it wasnt saved (with the new changes). However, when i selected the save icon, it kept telling me that i had to enter a name for the deck - but the name was there already. I had to rename the deck (miked) to save it, then come back in and edit (adding the lands).. It saved ok that time.
Maybe it was a one time issue, but just letting you know in case there is some problem with the name.

..and finally...

4) Awesome work!! Looking forward to more. :-)

**EDIT***
Lost an entire edited section.. lets try again.

1) Card name issue happened again on my very next draft game. Called the deck "myblueblack", edited it and added the land cards, but it would not let me save the deck. Kept saying i have to enter a name in the name field even though the name was there. I had to RENAME it to "mybb" and it then let me edit and save

2) The slowness I reported is not just on AI turn. The entire game slows down as the game progresses. Response times to selections and even the speed the highlighter moves between steps if I pick END TURN - all slows down the longer the game goes.

3) During the game, it just stopped. I could select different options, menu choices ok, but END TURN, OK, CONCEDE did not work. I had to force close the app.

Postby drdev » 12 Jun 2014, 16:03

@jureidinim - Thanks for reporting those issues. I've just released 1.5.20.004, which should fix the issues with saving draft decks after making changes post-naming, as well as prevent changes to decks being lost after renaming a deck, which I think must be the issue you were seeing.

As for the slowness issue, that's a known issue that I think is mostly caused by the card overlays. For the time being, can you try turning off particularly the card name and ID overlays in your settings and let me know if that improves things? That said, I do intend to work on fixing the slowness in the near future.

For the issue where it just stopped, can you reproduce? If so, please provide me with the steps to reproduce and I'll definitely investigate that.

Thanks.

Great - i'm downloading the new version now and will try it out.

I'll also try your suggestion to see if the speed is more stable late game.

I played another match earlier and it went through ok - no freezing. So I'm not sure if I can reproduce that. Maybe it was the card combos or the speed decrease just got chronic at that point.

I do however have a screenshot when it froze. I'll try and upload it here below. It was the AI turn and I was trying to progress the steps by OK or even END TURN. At least you will see what cards were in play should it be an issue with the card combo.

Drafts on the go are fantastic. I've been playing them all day, and while my drafting skills are still pretty bad, I've been having a lot of fun with them.

I also tinkered around a bit with the code this morning to always show the notification bar. Here's the code for that:
Code: Select all
        //In forge.app.Main, replacing "initialize(Forge.getApp(getClipboard(), assetsDir), true);"

        AndroidApplicationConfiguration cfg = new AndroidApplicationConfiguration();
        cfg.hideStatusBar = false;
        cfg.useGL20 = true;

        RelativeLayout layout = new RelativeLayout(this);
        layout.addView(initializeForView(Forge.getApp(getClipboard(), assetsDir), cfg));
        setContentView(layout);

And the manifest needs a small change:
Code: Select all
        <activity
            android:name=".Main"
            android:label="@string/app_name"
            android:theme="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar" >

That ends up looking like this:

The split card far // away displays a mana cost of 3ub on the detail pane which certainly had to be wrong side it should have two casting costs. I noticed this in a draft in mobile mode.

for the draft and sealed i was having issues with the "double clicking / double tapping" when selecting cards. Is it possible to get a select button.

Example: in draft, click card once it highlights purple, hit the select button. Currently i hit twice and then it waits sometime not sure if it works and then i do it again and it selects the next cards by accident.

Tried it with the overlays off. There was improvement in the speed over a longer time.
Also the name field bug is indeed fixed. thanks :-)

Unfortunately - I did not finish that game as it froze again.

Sealed deck this time. 3 Boosters chosen and 3 AI.

Playing AI #1 when it froze. It was my turn and I hit END TURN after doing my attack. the highlighter started moving across the steps and then just stopped on ET (as seen in the pic). As before I could select cards, my deck, discard pile, menu.. but the game would not continue on.

*** EDIT ***
Loaded the game again and used the deck i saved from the previous attempt. Game froze again a couple of turns in after selecting END TURN. the highlighter stopped on ET again and total freeze.

I will try again later and NOT use the END TURN button (just OK.. OK.. OK..) which will be longer, but i will see if i can complete a game with that saved deck in sealed tournament play.

Hoping you can nail this bug down. Its killing the fun :-)

Thank you for letting me know about the speed improvement. That should help me focus my efforts on improving the speed.

Could you actually post a copy of the deck you're playing that's making this freeze happen consistently. That would help a lot. It should be in the Forge\data\decks\sealed\ folder.

Thanks.

Yes, that's planned. I just haven't nailed down the best implementation yet.
