I'm traveling right now and I have a chance to use Forge a *lot* on the go, so I decided to give it a shot and share my thoughts and impressions that will hopefully help optimize the app for mobile use even further.
I have Forge for Android installed on both my cellphone, a 5 inch Samsung Galaxy Win, and on my tablet, a 10 inch Samsung Tab Pro.
OK, so first, the short of it: I love it! The best way to spend long boring transitions from one location to another. Also, overall very well optimized for both small and large screens. Had a lot of random matches on my cellphone to kill the time (including momir basic, lol) and started a quest on my tablet. Except for the issues outlined below, Forge hasn't crashed on me at all and the touch interface was very intuitive. Had no issues with card pics too (LQ on the phone, HQ on the tablet). Great job, Dan!
Now, here are the biggest issues (in my opinion) I've come around thus far:
1) No way to see deck statistics. Either I haven't found a way to see it or it's not implemented, but I looked hard enough. Statistics are pretty important in digital Magic, and especially in a mobile app to my mind, since it simplifies considering and building mana bases without having to resort to ye olde pen and paper for calculations. Would be nice to see stats like percentages implemented in future versions.
Note to self: would be nice for both desktop and mobile Forge to also calculate the number of different colored mana symbols in costs like Workstation, I'll work on that for desktop when I get back...
2) No quest Draft tournaments. These are really enjoyable, hopefully the mobile interface for them will be implemented in future revisions.
3) Slowdowns. Something will have to be done with this sooner or later, I think... On my octacore tablet this is not too noticeable and the game remains always playable, but on my cellphone a couple auras and an equipped creature in play can make the game almost intolerably slow, I actually just started a new match once because of it.
4) Not sure about this: is there a way to use deck-default Vanguard avatars in Android app? Haven't found the relevant option when setting up momir basic.
5) No way to check the contents or description of a sealed product in quest shop. I thought that Forge would zoom in on a precon or a booster pack like it would on a regular card and would let me read the details, but it seems like tap-holding a sealed product does nothing yet.
Thanks a lot for your hard work on this, Dan! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the feedback Agetian. Deck stats is definitely something I intend to add, but I did want to point out, in response to this part, that the Add Basic Lands dialog (available under the "..." button next to the Save button) will show you the mana symbol cost breakdown in the deck to aid with adding basic lands.Agetian wrote:Note to self: would be nice for both desktop and mobile Forge to also calculate the number of different colored mana symbols in costs like Workstation, I'll work on that for desktop when I get back...

Is there a constructed mode deck editor?

Yes. Just go to Constructed, click one of the buttons to pick a deck, then you'll see "New Deck" and "Edit Deck' buttons at the bottom of the deck select screen.timmermac wrote:Is there a constructed mode deck editor?

I've got some ideas for the deck editor.
1. Currently I think it is hidden behind game modes. It could be in front, like in the PC game. Beside the game modes, an additional button for the deck editor.
2. It's not the same in all situations. I'm thinking about the "copy to clipboard" buttons. Sometimes the button appears, in other deck editor instances it is not there. Copy to clipboard can be useful anywhere
3. The "Copy" to clipboard button: This wastes space and should go into the menu beside the save button. But copy is not enough, maybe you could even add that Android "share" functionality.
4. We already can have it auto create decks via "generate random deck". Then there is the need to re-roll from inside the deck editor (instead of going out and restart). I think, auto generation of decks could be a functionality inside the deck editor, with all necessary options (choice of color, card range etc...).

This app is incredible, wonderful, amazing, and truly addictive.
Thank you so much.
After editing a deck and saving it from player one's editor , the previous version of the deck is still used/shown if loaded by player 2.
I'd like the ability to "save as" in the deck editor. I want to have an version of the deck that the AI plays well, and it usually ends up just being slightly different, but currently the whole deck has to be reentered.

Not within the app at the time, but you can go into the Forge folders and organize your deck files into folders there, and it will respect the folders when you restart the app.Scion of Darkness wrote:Does the constructed deck folder support sub folders? there are tons of great deck here so that way i could keep them organized

I just released 1.5.24.012, which introduces Auto-Yield support for abilities on the stack. You can now tap on abilities on the stack and check "Auto-Yield" to avoid needing to press OK to resolve them for the rest of the game. If you want to temporarily disable them or remove them, you can select a new Auto-Yields item under the Game menu to open a dialog with a checkbox to disable all auto-yields or remove any active yields you choose.
Let me know what you think of this functionality, as I plan to implement it for the desktop game in the near future.
Thanks.

In both the current and previous versions, I am unable to pull up the keyboard to rename my quest mode deck to save it.
Edit: restarted my phone and it works now.
