Zero hero

Postby Mr.Chaos » 07 Mar 2009, 19:47

60 Total Cards

24 Creatures
-------------
4x Crimson Kobolds
4x Crookshank Kobolds
4x Kobolds of Kher Keep
4x Ornithopter
4x Phyrexian Walker
4x Shield Sphere

24 Spells
----------
4x Gaea's Anthem
4x Glorious Anthem
4x Howling Mine
4x Mox Emerald
4x Mox Pearl
4x Oblivion Ring

12 Land
--------
4x Plains
4x Savannah
4x Treetop Village

Wacky, weird, nuts and a few bolts. That is this deck.
Don't take it serious. The only reason it is here is because it flushed out a bug with Cateran Overlord when the computer played that card. (see page 24 of the "known bugs thread on the main page)

Anyway, throw the free crittes in play, hope for a starting hand with a land and a mox and start singing the anthem.
The amazing thing is, it can actually win! Well, sometimes, if it gets lucky.

Nice :) It looks like a fun deck. I would also add in Kher Keep just for kicks.

I thought about Kher Keep, but that meant adding a 3rd color and with the anthems needing 1ww or 2gg, adding a 3rd color would make casting them harder and you really, really, really need them.
So no keep for me. Well... ok, maybe I will try it once.

Ahh, I forgot there's actually no red mana in the deck, looking at these:
4x Crimson Kobolds
4x Crookshank Kobolds
4x Kobolds of Kher Keep

That's why they are the "Zero-heroes", they don't cost anything.
I actually started out making a kobold deck, but when I saw that Kobold Taskmaster was not in the card pool yet, I went with the zero casting cost idea instead.
Kobold Drill Sergeant would also be nice to have for a kobold deck.

Now that equipment is implemented, Skullclamp might be a good idea... and maybe Bone Saw and other zero- or low- cost equipment.
O forest, hold thy wand'ring son
Though fears assail the door.
O foliage, cloak thy ravaged one
In vestments cut for war.

Wow that was fun!
...Dennis, you are right all the way :P
I just played two or three matches against compy using the Chaos-Greensteel deck (which it was actually OK at).
I had the zero hero deck +4 Skullclamp -6 moxen(legality) +2 Temple Garden
(-4 Plains +4 Forbidding Watchtower ... that actually saved my last round by dealing 2 damage on a recently-disked field)

EDIT:OK now that is just overkill... <Attachment removed, please follow link>

Well, I am still fooling around with it against greensteel:<attachment removed>
...and it still seems to have the knack of bug-finding :P

Looks like the AI needs a primer on how to not attack when you will be alpha killed the next turn. :) Any volunteers?

Well, actually, I think it would be more useful to have the AI not tap all its elves for mana and have Me "alpha kill" it next turn :P (see previous reply)

EDIT: I just played my first game on the new version,Gaea's cradle is Awesome for this deck :P :<attachment removed>Free creatures + Gaea's cradle = Fun!EDIT: And I'm still finding bugs with this deck...
