Also seeing slowdowns in the latest build. I will probably reinstall 002. Got crashes as well. Churning Eddy card text shows up in the stack but never clears. A few phases later the game crashes

Thank you, good sir. I shall try this.Pongpyng wrote:ON DESKTOP,ABrighterShadow wrote:Someone, anyone, please help me. I have the newest version, .004, and I desperately would like to have the set images. I downloaded the LQ Set Pictures in the settings, it was 22 thousand pics and some change, but they don't show up in the deck editor, just repeats of the default set. Please, how do I fix this?
For newer sets, I batch download from mtgimage d0t com (KTK is available)
For all previous sets, I use High-Res Card Image Downloader v. 1.1.0 (search this forum)
or download from Pictures forum
ON ANDROID,
I use IrfanView (Free) to batch re-size all images from desktop version and copy to cache/pics/cards on my Android

FYI, the image downloader works for new sets, too (when Forge has them). You just need to run it again.ABrighterShadow wrote:Thank you, good sir. I'm testing a custom Android build of Forge past r27613 to see if the slowdown is fixed: on the one hand, I can definitely see an improvement (for instance, the menus do not lag anymore for me), but on the other hand, there is still a very considerable slowdown in the match itself (the game lags in the very beginning of the game and it deteriorates to nearly unplayable much quicker than before)...

Well, after checking my forge root folder in my SD card I discovered two fonts folders... one in the forge root folder and another in the cache folder. I cross checked both and found out that the fonts folder in the forge root folder was missing most of the fonts so I just copied all fonts in the cache\fonts folder and now it is working again.sesimo wrote:After experiencing extreme slowering in version 004, I just went back to 002 but now it freezes at loading fonts... any advice??
Thank you drdev and keep the hard work!!!

What do you mean by the "root" folder? The only folder that should need all the font files is the cache folder. Or am I misunderstanding something?sesimo wrote:Well, after checking my forge root folder in my SD card I discovered two fonts folders... one in the forge root folder and another in the cache folder. The first pic is what I mean by forge root folder, that containing all files and folders. There you'll see a fonts folder.drdev wrote:What do you mean by the "root" folder? The second pic is what's inside my cache folder. As you'll see there is another folder called fonts.
Sorry if I was missleading...

Your files are in the wrong place, unless you customized your cache folder. db, fonts, and pics should only be in Forge\cache. achievements, decks, gauntlet, preferences, and quest should only be in Forge\data. I'm not even sure what the cards folder is there.
In other words, the only folders that should be present directly inside the Forge folder is cache, data, and res.

Moved everything back where it should be, edited forge.profile.properties and it works like a charm. Thanks a lot dude!!drdev wrote:Your files are in the wrong place, unless you customized your cache folder. db, fonts, and pics should only be in Forge\cache. achievements, decks, gauntlet, preferences, and quest should only be in Forge\data. I personally am not noticing a difference in speed. I mean it still slows down once the field gets extra crowded, but not by turn 6 or 7 like you all are mentioning. It appears no slower than .002 for me.

I use default settings. I'm thinking either they had already improved the speed by the time I downloaded .004, or it's because I have a high-end device. (Galaxy s5 active)Scion of Darkness wrote:ABrigtherShadow what setup do you use in irfanview?

I think part of the issue is that the app seems to be using more memory than I remember. I'd consider checking how much memory is left on your device when the app is running, and maybe consider shutting down other applications while running it. That could be a contributing factor.
It's certainly something we're going to try to get under control so the speed improves. I want to the app to be able to run well on anything less than 3-4 years old.

I don't have anything as brand new as Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, but I can confirm that there is a noticeable difference in speed on a rather modern opticore tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, the 2014 model). On anything a couple years older the difference is noticeable enough to make the game difficult to play even around midgame (while .002 only tends to slow down that much by the time it gets to a prolonged endgame with a lot of stuff on the battlefield).
