Tutorial : How to proprely change deck name
by Squee » 03 Aug 2009, 17:32
To proprely use the launcher, you need to change your decks' name according to a rather strict naming convention.
First, you must sort your decks into 4 categories :
- Vanguard : pretty explicit, it'll be all your decks with Vanguard card in them
- T1, T2, T3 : they only represent 3 groups of deck power made by you. It doesn't matter what's in these groups (no legality check), it's up to you to choose how to group your decks.
Then, you must change the decks' name with the right prefix (Vanguard, T1, T2, T3).
First method :
Just open your deck in the deck builder and then save it again with the added prefix.
Second method (quicker but a little more complex) :
Open your deck file (for example ARZAKON.dck found in your Playdeck subfolder) with a text editor like Notepad. There, you must edit the first line of the file to add the prefix you choose for your deck (DON'T REMOVE THE STARTING ; SYMBOL, CHECK THE ATTACHMENTS TO BE SURE). Finally just save your edited file with the right name (go under File > Save as...).
Edit : THE FILE'S NAME MUST BE THE SAME THAN THE FIRST LINE YOU JUST EDIT.
For example, if I want to have ARZAKON.dck appear only when I select T3 in the launcher, I must edit the first line of the file like this :
;T3 - ARZAKON
Then I must save the change as :
T3 - ARZAKON.dck
After succesfully playing a game with your new deck, you can delete the old one that remain in your Playdeck subfolder.

Well... I use a simpler way: Just open deckeditor, select a deck and exit deck editor (Not the game, just deck editor), then re open, your deck will still be there, and save with the proper name.

Done
All your decks are working good now, but for a few ones (5 or 6 I think), I didn't know what name you wanted, so I just leave them unchanged (they were allready working).
I've also updated a little the tutorial but my english seems very bad and I can explain very well...
I'll soon release a new launcher with a deck manager : just tell him what deck you want to use and you're done = no more naming convention nor worries
