XLHQ card art - having problems. Can some one give me a hand
by Roughrider » 03 Jul 2016, 05:09
So I've been itching to play a little mtg lately, and ran across forge just a couple days ago. I downloaded that massive 13+ GB hq card art torrent yesterday, unpacked the files and all the folders into my /cards directory in appdata - but nothing will show up. I've tried unpacking everything into the root of /cards abandoning the file structure, but still a no card art. Id it a naming convention issue? The cards all have a "cardname.xlhq.jpg" structure.
What am I missing?
I've done google searches and I'm coming up short. Any help would be super-appreciated! Thanks folks!

They need to be .full.jpg instead of .xlhq.jpg.

to add on the subject, if you're using windows OS there are free programs like Irfanview or Spacetornado Renamer that can do batch renaming (Irfanview can do much more than only renaming) to replace the .xhlq. into .full. in whole directories.
(I mention both programs because i have used them, there are more batch renamer programs available on the internet but i don't have experience with any other)

probably outdated by now so you should avoid : Innistrad world for Forge (updated 17/11/2014)
Duel Decks for Forge - Forge custom decks (updated 25/10/2014)

Some directories are also named different (ULG instead of UL for instance).

In addition I've noticed that the cards that start with the word 'aether' in forge are written with the first two letters capitalized whereas in xlhq only the first one is.
Here is a list of some of the matches I've found between directory names, the first element being how it's named in forge and the second in xlhq (then I wrote a script to rename them since they're so many):
Hope it helps, probably some are not entirely correct but most seem to be. These images really make a difference.
