I was able to update to 16v3 via the launcher without problem now.

The launcher won't finish the download of 1.4.16v3, the same as v2, downloads partially then shows the new version message.

Today I installed 1.4.16v3 from the XMage Launcher and haven't been able to launch the client since. Immediately after updating the launcher refreshes and tells me there's a new version of XMage available (1.4.16v3). I've tried updating again, same problem. In console (I'm on a mac), it reads "Error: Could not find or load main class mage.client.Mage.frame". I've tried downloading the update manually but when I try to unzip the download it comes back with an "unable to expand" error.

Any advice for a mage looking to play some late night magic?

Similar problem here. I was able to download and install the new client, but it will never actually launch into the game itself. Just sits on the dos prompt with, "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: scala/Immutable" on screen

LevelX: No, you only have to klick the "Update" button again. If that does not work, post what's message is written to the xmage_launcher.log file.

I faced the same problem several times without being able to update xmage. In any cas the zip was cut (xmage.dl size vary from 60Mo to 90Mo).
It seems downloading throught firefox failed too except with a downloader plugin.

So this can a workaround for those who can't update.
Download the zip file using a downdload plugin (works with downloadthemall for me)

If download succeded, unzip it in place of your xmage folder (i removed old one taking care of the images folder if inside)

Then you should at least being able to start xmage from within mage-client folder using specific script.

Well, I deleted the whole non-image part of my xmage folder. The only stuff left was the xmage launcher and the xmage_1.4.16v3.zip Then I tried to reinstall the whole thing.

Sadly it won't install even when I unzip in the folder. What can I do?

Hi. I am having trouble updating my client to 1.4.16v3 from 1.4.15v5. The update downloads as expected but afterwards tells me that I am still on the old version. After reading around a bit I wonder if this is the 'new version of java' bug. Should I try downloading the fixed config file I saw in the other thread? Just a bit weary of messing around with things without knowing whats wrong.

LevelX: This can probably happen, if you have the directoty open i.e. in the explorer. Best you close all other programs before you start the update. Also close/stop the client and server in any case. A restart of the system before the update can also sometimes help to prevent the locks.

What exactly did you do?

Edit: I installed Java seperately from its original site, then unpacked the zip. It runs for now.

Version 1.4.16v3w won't download with either the launcher or clicking on the download link (Version 1.4.16v2w as there isn't a link up for 3w).

i did but that was another big fat failure it still resets/stops even with the alternate source

I've been trying for a couple days to get this to work now, I've completely redownloaded the client/launcher twice. Java downloads fine, but the launcher is "truncated" right on what looks like the main folder. I couldn't tell you what the issue is; whether it's on my end, on the server's end, or what, but I've basically given up.

I would include more info but the server spam filter isn't letting me.

EDIT: At least I have an updated client now. I did as a previous poster suggested and DL'd from viewtopic.php?f=70&t=19248, and extracted directly into my xmage folder. I haven't checked for compatibility with the launcher, I can only assume it won't work, but for now I have a working client. Of note, the first mirror would continuously crash between 20-30MB, where the second was a completed download.

l have downloaded the 16.3w file, replaced the old maps with the new ones, ran the command, which prompts me with the message that l cannot run that command due to insufficient competences... (not sure if l translate that right)....

It's getting really annoying
