ok, and make sure one card is a white one. So that's where the color fringes in the text came - from the plastic box. Well, it's still quite amazing.
Huggy, the scanner is not bad, it might be good actually.
Well, can't wait to process Alpha !
are you Richard Garfield by any chance ?
)
we already have japanese P3k, not the others though.

I don't know how you can remove the coloring and focus issues caused by a plastic cover extreme, good luck. A poor although genuine alpha is not better than what we have now is it?

huggy, it's quality stuff. Have you looked at the scan ?
Can you tell it's done through a box ? The only hint is a tiny bit of fringing in the text, but it's quite small imo.
Hell, in the end it's my time i'm wasting
One more thing: IOqii, please PM me from now on with the scans.

I posted 2 scans, the first is an Italian M10 card which is not in a plastic case and shows the exact same fringing as the Alpha in the second post. I think the fringing is from the scanner itself.
Also, no I am not Richard Garfield

oops, you're right.
Not good. But the fact that the box has virtually no effect is good news (I also feared some sort of Newton's rings, which appear when scanning cards in sleeves). Still, the fringing in the animate dead is a lot less visible than for the italian card. Maybe the coarser printing raster is the cause, I don't know. Send me a 4 card scan, let's see what we have now.
There is no way you can borrow a scanner ? (even if it's only for the alphas).
We have to find a solution because a full alpha mint set is pretty much unique.
OK, you're his wife, I get it. So can you scan Proposal ?

Hey, it's good news that the scanner is the problem and not the boxes/sleeves! We'll work it out if l0qii is willing, we've waited this long after all.

I for one would be willing to donate towards the cause of getting l0qii a better scanner. I myself will need to buy one soon so any suggestions on brand/model/make would be great. I've got some promos that we don't have images of yet dying to be scanned.
@Huggy: I am still alive and willing to pick up where I left off post Zendikar release.

I am also willing to donate, but I need to see the amount you need first

In my experience the canon lide scanners, even the cheap ones, are very good.
IOqii is also trying to find a scanner to borrow.
There is a big problem though, which wasn't apparent from the beginning: 19 of the cards are in old type boxes, which include a sleeve, and it completely fcks up the scan with reflections
But hey, at least the others are fine, still better than nothing.

ladies and gentlemen, announcing a historic moment.
In less than a week we'll release a set that I didn't think we'll do anytime soon.
ALPHA, ladies and gentlemen.
That leaves us with only Summer magic to go (if that can be considered a set).
Anyway, the last real set to be completed, based on an amazing PSA graded encased set (almost only mint 9 and gem 10s, including priceless gem 10 black lotus and moxes). That has to be one of the most expensive sets ever, i don't even want to start thinking about its value.
It's been scanned by LOqii. PresetM also helped with reference scans.
I can also tell you it is by far the most difficult set I ever did, because of the boxes the cards are in, but most of it is done and I'm happy with the results.
we'll be back.
VERY Happy !!!

so excited!
since this was considered almost impossible to achieve, how are the chances to get our hands on a Summer Magic set?
