Yes, that is an option: export a deck in e.g. 10/18, take the txt file, remove all the headings and x'es (and add any that were in card names, and surround the result withChris H. wrote:I tried a test similar to the one that MC tried. I attempted to import individual deck files from the 100 deck archive and received the same "Deck cannot be cast to forge.Deck" error.
That being said, I discovered that I could edit the text description/card list file that comes with the decks in the 100 deck archive. I was able to modify several of them into a .dck file that Forge will then recognize. It was a fun discovery, but is somewhat labor intensive.

a) I did test both of these on a fresh 11/12 download
b) If the above process didn't work, double check for any x'es in card names that might have been removed along with "4x" es.
c) After you open one of these in forge, it will be shuffled around a bit(i.e. alphabetized by name instead of "Creature/Spell/Land then name"), and a new line will be added after [sideboard]. They should still work normally after this

d) You Will be able to export the results to a .deck file that is importable by the new forge(though I see little reason for it).
e) If you aren't able to convert your decks, I am more then happy to provide(on request) dck files of any .deck file readable by 11/01(or earlier).

I hand-converted MC's two decks using the method outlined by zerker. I will attach zip archives of these .dck files to the end of this message. They should be compatible with this newest version of Forge.
I also am willing to help convert any deck files over to the new format. A few .dck files should help to keep people happy while we wait for some coding changes.

Do you have an example of this? I'd like to see if I can reproduce it.This bug is for the new 11/12 release: protection doesn't prevent damage that's already been assigned to a creature. Maybe the damage is unstoppable.

For sure. Use the ability of Knight of Dawn when the computer makes a particularly . . . intelligent attack or block.
On a side note, Sky Swallower gives even your mana pools to an opponent! I wonder if they could be Donated as well.
EDIT: Pyrohemia (and as a result probably Pestilence too) never seems to trigger at the end of an opponent's turn.
EDIT2: On casting Char against an Archon of Justice while controlling a Fire Diamond and some Mountains (as well as a small typo at the beginning no one seems to have yet noticed
):
EDIT4: For the second ability of Chandra Nalaar (and possibly other X-related cards), there should be a way to cancel and choose a different creature as its target or possibly examine the toughness of creatures -- currently there's no way to get out of choosing a value for X once the dialog box appears, and after that it's too late.
EDIT5: Also, a bug I thought was repaired is back! You can now use planeswalker abilities as instants rather than as sorceries.
EDIT6: Dryad Arbor can't be chosen as a target for Ashes to Ashes.
EDIT7: Sunfire Balm et al. don't have their abilities upon cycling. Also, why does the line below this post show the wrong number of edits? Hmmm.
EDIT8: If you cast Oblivion Ring and choose an untargetable permanent when it comes into play, you can cancel and not choose any permanent at all! The same might be true for other targeting cards.

@Side note: No, they are untargetable by definition in targeting code, and if you are foolish enough to give them away, I should think you're still able to use them
. That would be an interesting card actually, an anti- Drain Power: "When this card comes into play, untap all lands you control, then tap them for mana, then target opponent gains control of all mana in your mana pool. This mana does not empty from their mana pool until the end of their next main phase". It wouldn't be ridiculously broken either: mana burn is a thing of the past.

EDIT3: While we're on the subject of Knight of Dawn, I blocked Noble Panther with it and used its protection ability (before damage was put on the stack, since I already learned my lesson). The Knight survived, as it should have, but strangely enough, the Panther dropped dead! I'm fairly certain there were no other effects during the combat, so is this a first-strike bug? (Oh, I also discovered Archon of Justice is a very glitchy card not even counting the computer targeting a dead creature with which it might have traded in combat. I think the AI feels an obsession to target a creature with its ability every time, which may relate to the errors in the previous edit.)

I think the protection / damage issue has always existed.... Ashes to Ashes somehow disallows colorless targets (instead of just disallowing artifact creatures), so that was easily fixed. On Archon of Justice I made some fixes on also, but it's possible it would still target dead creatures (or ones on their way to the graveyard). And you are correct, it will first try to target a creature, then look for an enchantment, then try an Artifact, then just any human permanent, then a permanent belonging to the computer itself.
I also just fixed some of the Planeswalker bugs (their abilities seemed to be playable during the opponent's pre declare attack / pre declare block phases).
Don't think Sunfire Balm was ever added, do you remember which cards don't trigger upon cycling? This type of mechanic should work in MTGForge, for instance Renewed Faith ability will trigger whenever it's cycled (although I think we might currently disregard the "may" part).

Actually, I think the card in question was Primal Boost, though others in that 'cycling cycle' (Choking Tethers, Death Pulse, Solar Blast, and of course the aforementioned Sunfire Balm) might share that bug if they've been implemented.

Thanks to Zerker and Chris for the DCK info.
I downloaded the 2 converted decks and will give converting a try later today.
Not sure I understand it all yet but I will see how far I get.
Just to be sure I take the right file, I alter the txt file of an exported deck and once done I give it a dck file extension instead of txt, right?

I tested out the methods mentioned by Chris and Zerker. And it worked!
For a start here's my recent deck GW-Wrath-Persist in dck format.

Starting to twitch uncontrolably by now.
I downloaded the zipfiles with the new gobliiins and guilty doll deck files that Chris made.
Unzipped them. Start the latest beta of the game, goto editor, import deck, navigate to folder with the unzipped decks... nothing there. Well, the game cannot see the files anyway.
They have a dck extension and apparently, that is wrong.
That's it. I'm done. I am not touching this latest beta until an update comes around that allows somehow to import the old deck files because this whole thing is beyond me.
Yes, I did read about Silly Freak's commenting on this stuff elsewhere. But I will wait for an update before I try this again.

Unzipped them. Start the latest beta of the game, goto editor, import deck, navigate to folder with the unzipped decks... nothing there. Well, the game cannot see the files anyway.
They have a dck extension and apparently, that is wrong.
After which you can run the program and the decks should appear.
I haven't figured out a way to import .dck files by using the program itself. The program allows .deck files only.

That's it. I'm done. I am not touching this latest beta until an update comes around that allows somehow to import the old deck files because this whole thing is beyond me.
Yes, I did read about Silly Freak's commenting on this stuff elsewhere. But I will wait for an update before I try this again.

once you have finished with editing and changing the .txt file to a .dck file you only have to then move this file to the:
Forge/res/decks
folder and forge will see the deck and you can then select it as a deck to play. There should be no need to import this .dck file from the deck editor.
In the future there will no longer be a need to import or export our decks. All of our decks will be a text file with the .dck file extension. Each deck will be a separate file. All deck files will be located in the Forge/res/decks folder.

I saw a message from Silly Freak on one of the other topics and he gives us instructions on how to change the contents of the forge/res/main.properties file. With this change, forge 11-12 will automatically convert your all-decks2 file over to the new .dck format. Follow this link for more info:

Thank you for the solution, Silly Freak.

Drekavac should be able to be played even when you have no other cards in hand. Not a smart move usually, but it's a matter of principle here. There are probably other cards (such as Festival of Trokin) that should check the world during resolution but currently do so at announcement.
EDIT: I just had a Beloved Chaplain and a Wojek Embermage against the computer's 2/2 white creature. He/she/it attacked, and I blocked with Chaplain and used the Embermage's ability. Well, guess what happened? My Embermage does not love the Chaplain because of another protection bug. And this was before damage was put on the stack, so his creature lived to eat away my 18 life (I swear, the AI must have also been stacking my land to add injury to . . . well, more injury!). I was 48-0 in quest mode before that.
EDIT2: Oh, and the buttons that show removed-from-game cards work properly but are counted incorrectly: the numbers next to them are always zero. Perhaps these labels and others need to be refreshed on a better schedule.
I'm still steaming about my (previously) perfect run.
EDIT3: Another Wojek Embermage bug, but this time not due to protection. Opponent had Goblin Deathraiders and Mudbutton Torchrunner; I targeted the latter, but the other wasn't damaged. Is there anything particular about this combination (almost certainly not, but just in case) or does it have to do with multi-coloured cards? Would the same have happened had I targeted the Deathraiders or even the Embermage itself?
EDIT4: Mishra's Factory lacks its pump ability, but I'm sure you're all aware of it. The real bug is that creature enchantments can remain on it through the end of a turn.
