Trouble Installing Xmage
by Goblininnatree » 07 Aug 2023, 04:10
I have downloaded a current version of Java, and then Xmage, and on booting it up, it displays the following, then proceeds to do nothing. Xmage is located in Program Files x86 on the C drive, where Java is also located. Please advise.
Reading config from [removed to avid looking spammy]
XMage folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\MTG - Online
XMage Launcher version installed: 0.3.8
XMage Launcher version available: 0.3.8
Java version installed:
Java version available: 1.8.0_201
Java not found
XMage version installed: 1.4.51-dev (2023-08-06 09-41)
XMage version available: 1.4.51-dev (2023-08-06 09-41)"

Try to move the launcher to another directory (maybe a directory xmage in the home directory of the user) and try again to install xmage.

I've also recently updated Java and downloaded Xmage, but mine is acting up too. I'm seeing the same message about Java not being found, even though it's definitely installed on my C drive just like yours. I'm not sure if it's a compatibility issue or something else. If you get any advice or figure out a solution, would you mind sharing it here? I'm hoping we can both get our Xmage up and running smoothly. Good luck!

Similar to yours, I'm getting the error message "Java cannot be found" despite though it is undoubtedly installed on my C drive.

Occasionally, XMage may fail to locate Java if the JAVA_HOME environment variable is not set. You can set this variable manually:
Right-click "This PC" or "My Computer" and select "Properties".
Click "Advanced System Settings" on the left side.
Click the "Environment Variables" button.
Under "System Variables", click "New" and add a variable named JAVA_HOME with the value set for the Java installation path (e.g. C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_201).
Click "OK" to save the changes.
