Re: Challenge Set #4 (Spoilers)

I am having good luck with this deck in Life's a lich:
;Mono W Lichin' Licks
;
;Underdogs
;no.spam@plea.se
;03/01/2010
;1
;4th Edition
;

.349 4 Enlightened Tutor
.108 4 Healing Salve
.877 4 Journey To Nowhere
.878 4 Mesa Enchantress
.876 4 Oblivion Ring
.588 4 Path to Exile
.240 4 Swords to Plowshares
.33 1 Circle of Protection: Black
.34 1 Circle of Protection: Blue
.35 1 Circle of Protection: Green
.36 1 Circle of Protection: Red
.37 1 Circle of Protection: White
.289 2 Luminarch Ascension
.726 1 Moat
.188 24 Plains
With the exception of Pridemage on the lich, this deck is showing promise. I am thinking of a blue splash for meddling mage, though to help with that problem.

Any advice?

What does beating Pit Fighting unlock? I still have that one, Challenge Challenge (which I'll do last) and Land Ho and Gather No Moss.

Interestingly you did something totally different for challenge challenge than I was thinking of. I was going to do an Illusions/Donate deck with the cascade spells and dual lands to play them, and all the acceleration I could find (City of Traitors, Wall of Roots, etc)

And SUNTAIL HAWK! I was trying to find that guy in the deckbuilder for that challenge, but I couldn't remember his name, so I used that 2/2 flying cat instead.

I keep thinking of cards that aren't implemented yet :p What I'd do (what I actually did do, come to think of it) is just do the challenge a couple times and hope you don't run into pridemage or naturalize or disenchant :p Meddling Mage would work, I think. I made it through on my first try, which was lucky, but I'd expect it to take maybe a half dozen attempts normally if you just tried to rush through like I did and hope not to encounter enchantment destruction.

That new white card that pumps out 4/4 angels every time you cast an enchantment might be helpful, too. I forget the name, but it's in deckbuilder somewhere.

Too bad there isn't Pithing Needle or Sterling Grove :) Or that white enchantment where each player names a card to ban. Still, without those, Meddling Mage is probably the best bet, unless you want to try and squeeze in counterspells, which I don't think will be easy at all to do.

It gives you a Pit Scorpion at the beginning of each match.

Does the rank bonus can cumulate in challenge and on every challenge set(meaning if you won auramancer and pit you start with indestructible enchantment and one scorpion in play)?

Yes, they will stack. The pit scorpion actually came in handy on the Challenge Challenge, for something early to slap the Umezawa's Jitte on.

I am having SO MANY Issues...

ABC's (I made it to round 9 but faced Kithkins) (F**CKING SWARMS)

Chao's Orb

The biggest problem with a lot of these challenges is the fact when I come up against a Swarm team I get ANNIHILATED...

I can't keep up with them..

I am using this deck for ABC's

Here is the S deck I used to beat the challenge I had a lot of success with it on my 4th try or so at ABC's.

Swamp 23
Strip Mine 1
Sanguine Guard 4
Sengir Vampire 3
Shriekmaw 4
Stronghold Overseer 2
Sarcomancy 4
Sorin Markov 2
Stupor 4
Scepter of Fugue 1
Slith BloodLetter 1 (No Serrated Arrows)
Sol Ring 1
Solemn Simulacrum 4
Su-Chi 4
Sword of Fire and Ice 2

ABC is not really a super easy one it takes a bit of luck so that you can come out fairly fast each game. The one above mine actually is a tad faster but this one has more staying power in the mid to late game.

Also getting out a Overseer is really good since his ability can be used defensively. Its a fairly late game strategy but can easily make a army of 2/2s or whatever into an army of 0/2's.

Wow, finally beat Pit Fighting. Kept getting really bad luck on the last round, but I managed it at last.

.17 1 Black Lotus
.1898 1 Lion's Eye Diamond
.1424 1 Lotus Petal
.894 1 Mana Crypt
.157 1 Mana Vault
.457 1 Mox Diamond
.165 1 Mox Emerald
.166 1 Mox Jet
.167 1 Mox Pearl
.168 1 Mox Ruby
.169 1 Mox Sapphire
.230 1 Sol Ring
.1892 4 Elvish Spirit Guide
.1910 1 Yawgmoth's Will*
.1 1 Ancestral Recall
.1734 4 Cabal Ritual
.55 4 Dark Ritual
.62 1 Demonic Tutor
.327 4 Grim Tutor
.1848 1 Tendrils of Agony
.648 1 Mind's Desire*
.250 1 Timetwister
.309 1 Windfall
.282 1 Wheel of Fortune
.202 1 Regrowth
.1696 4 Manamorphose
.1904 4 Simian Spirit Guide
.587 4 Meditate
.239 3 Swamp
.126 3 Island
.712 4 Street Wraith
.10 1 Balance

It's not that unusual for a tendrils list, except it has basic lands due to Blood Moon, and lacks Yawgmoth's Bargian that I usually use, due to Presence of the Master. I also tossed in a Balance for wiping out the AI free creatures, especially on the last two rounds. It saved me on round 8 this time. (I've never seen a tendrils game take 10 turns to end before :p)

Just a heads-up for people. The bonuses from Pit Fighting (free pit scorpion) carry over to ALL challenges, not just set #4. I got a scorpion in land ho :)

Challenge Challenge:

Gave up on Trix and went with a weenie deck. It turns out to be nearly the same as Meesterhans deck, except I used Might of Alara and Goblin Welder instead of Kiki-Jiki and Tangle Wire, and didn't bother with City of Traitors, as I didn't think it would help enough to be worth the inconvenience.

.632 4 Umezawa's Jitte
.646 4 Bloodbraid Elf
.926 4 Bituminous Blast
.787 4 Phyrexian Negator
.641 4 Wall of Roots
.1903 4 Quirion Dryad
.636 4 Might of Alara
.1957 4 Cursed Scroll
.9 4 Badlands
.12 4 Bayou
.241 4 Taiga
.252 4 Tropical Island
.212 4 Savannah

That's almost exactly the deck I started with, but found it kinda awkward. I switched to a trix deck and flew through the challenge.
