Is anyone planning to put together a comprehensive masterbase including all these promos and any other relevant MTG cards? Goblin Hero's base seems to have left a lot of cards out and uses non-standard set abbreviations/codes while other bases which include more promos and use the normal codes don't have Worldwake or lack other features so I'm not sure what to use.

Thank you for posting this! It seems to have the vast majority of all the promos, with a few exceptions and mistakes that I'd like to help correct:_S3BaS_ wrote:There you got ppl the masterbase with all promos realeased on magic's history (if im missing something just let me know)

all promos released until this card
Missing cards:
- Malfegor (PRE)
- Lu Bu, Master-at-Arms (PRE)
- Force of Nature (REL)
- Marit Lage (REL)
- Day of Judgment (BOX or FBP, see Missing promo sets section below)
Mis-categorized cards:
- Mycoid Shepherd, classified as GTW but belongs with GDY (see Missing promo sets section below)
- Jace Beleren, classified as PR but seems like it belongs with HPB
- Archangel, classified as PR, but cannot find any confirmation that this card exists as a promo
Missing promo sets:
The following are all listed under PR but belong in their own set, GPC - Grand Prix Cards:
- Spiritmonger
- Call of the Herd
- Chrome Mox
- Umezawa's Jitte
The following are all listed under PR but belong in their own set, PTC - Pro Tour Cards:
- Eternal Dragon
- Mirari's Wake
- Treva, the Renewer
- Avatar of Woe
The following are both listed under PR but belong in their own set, BOX (or maybe FBP) - Full Box Promotion:
- Honor of the Pure
- Celestial Colonnade
The following are all listed under CHP but belong in their own set, GDY - Game Day:
- Nissa's Chosen
- Emeria Angel
- Hada Freeblade
- Kalastria Highborn
Miscellaneous:
- There is a duplicate of Hada Freeblade (non-promo) in WWK
- Naya Sojourners is currently under GTW but might belong under GDY, however, it looks like a GTW promo to me...
- The land cards in ARE have errors; multiples of Forest (1) and Forest (2) are listed rather than Forest (1), Forest (2), Forest (3), etc, for every basic land type, so lots of actual promo lands are missing with many duplicates in their place instead
- There are 6 foreign language promos in PRE and 1 in REL that are not included; by file name they are:
PRE:
- Fungal Shambler
- Glory
- Laquatus's Champion
- Questing Phelddagrif
- Raging Kavu
- Stone-Tongue Basilisk
REL:
- Shivan Dragon
Hope this helps!

Also, does anyone know why I get the message "(RULE NOT FOUND, Using Simple Info)" in the info section when viewing WWK cards? Happens with every WWK masterbase I've tried...

There needs to be a new category for Game Day (GDY), as those card are not the same as States/Champs.OlSpazzy wrote:

I'm also not sure if most people have a category for the Box promos that started as of M10. There are only 3 cards in the category right now, but it will grow.

Nice report OlSpazzy, keep it up! Since Goblin Hero has begun diverging his base from MWS, and the MWS devs no longer make their own, there is a void to fill.

Ark, I've updated my post with your info about GDY and BOX(FBP?) and added another missing card, Day of Judgment. Also, you have Naya Sojourners listed as GDY on your site but it looks nothing like the rest and exactly like GTW. Is it really GDY?
Huggybaby, I'm happy to help out. I have no idea how to make masterbases, but it's not very hard to spot errors in them. Hopefully _S3BaS_ or someone else can make these updates.

Yes, I am quite certain. Naya Sojourners was the card everybody received for playing in the M10 Gameday event. Top 8 received the full art Mycoid Shepherd. M10 was the first Gameday event ever, and there has been one per set just like Pre-release and Release events, in the USA at least. They take place exactly 1 month after release, on a Saturday.
I keep a list of promos that matter to me, so I can print off this sheet on 1 page and carry it around in my trade binder. Some of the more random categories of promos are not listed at http://ark42.com/mtg/pricelist.php?p=0 but the major and ongoing ones are.
Naya Sojourners was an oddball, in that it was not full art, but that was the first Gameday ever.
Dauntless Dourbark was also an oddball promo, in that it has the DCI numbering order shared with the Gateway/WPN/Game Day cards, but it was actually given out as a door prize to everybody at a states event in 2008, and as far as I know, it was never used for Gateway or WPN. Gateway sort of skipped Lorwyn, then later transitioned into WPN. There is also a mystery 23DCI card that has never been released for anything, but we know that 1-22 and 24-39 were used so far.
*edit*
This is the list of categories I use on my website promos page, and the 3 letter codes I use internally. A few of the codes I made up and moved cards from the generic "PR" directory.
FNM - FNM
Summer of Magic - SUM
Prerelease - PRE
Release - REL
Anniversary - ANI
Two-Headed Giant - THG
Player Rewards - REW
Arena League - ARE
Gateway - GTW
Game Day - GDY
States - CHP
Grand Prix - GPC
Pro Tour - PTC
Worlds - WRL
Junior Series - JSS
Book - BOO
Box - BOX
Bundle - BND
Judge Gift - JGC
Happy Holidays - HHL

As I understand it: GH's base now conforms to the layout he uses for Magic Album. Magic Album is completely thorough, and is designed around the way GH organizes cards. MWS is obsolete and can't keep up with all available cards, and the information about them, so GH has quit supporting it basically. The fact that GH's base still has something in common with MWS is coincidence.
I think that's right, GH please correct me.

Just wanted to correct a few comments made about the set names and specific promos placements within those sets.
These are the correct placements of all these cards
Pre-Release and Release - PRE and REL
Book Promos - BKP
Game Day Promos - GDY
Buy A Box Promo - should really be BAB since that's what the campaign is called.
Grand Prix Cards - GPC
Pro Tour Cards - PTC
I can't confirm Archangel as a Promo either.
Arena - ARE
These lands need to be numbered in a way that reflects their year otherwise there will always be duplicates. This is what GH's Magic Album does better than MWS. Whatever system you do use will require renaming the JPG files.
The actual classification of a series of cards is quite interesting given that they share a numbering system.
1-20 are technically all GTW which is a now defunct program. It did skip Lorwyn for no apparent reason.
12 Dauntless Dourbark is in the GTW numbering system but was the last Champs/States promo and the only non-extended art card. It therefore should end up in the CHP classification although other people may disagree.
21 and onwards are all WPN (which replaced the GTW program) apart from the GDY prizes.
28, 29, 34, 35, 38, 39 are all GDY promos.
The Mystery 23 card may turn up one day, but who knows...
The Play Magic 2009 Steward of Valeron promo opens up a new category especially if we see a similar one for 2010. If we don't, it can happily sit in the regular PR folder.
I like the idea of ANI as Anniversary but it will complicate categorizing Rukh Egg, Char, Kamahl, Pit Fighter and Reya Dawnbringer. Since Rukh Egg is both a REL and ANI, Char could be considered a Play Magic 2008 card as well as an ANI, Kamahl Pit Fighter is pure ANI, and Reya Dawnbringer is REL and ANI.
As a one card category, I'm not sure Worlds WRL needs a separate category rather than just being in PR. That's my opinion on any one card category such as the Jace promo and Play Magic, etc.
Using Bundle BND for the Wal-Mart/Target promos may be misleading especially since you've classified Garruk's XBox card in the same category. It would be better off calling it Resale RSL and leaving Garruk in a new Digital Games Promos category since with more games planned over 2010 and 2011, I'm sure we will see more.
The Dengeki Japanese promos also need to be added since they're unique.

- Lu Bu, Master-at-Arms - PRE
- Force of Nature - REL
- Marit Lage - REL
- Shivan Dragon - REL
Book Promos - BKP
- Jace Beleren - BKP. It should not be HPB unless you want to rename all the HPB ones and make a general book promo category.
Game Day Promos - GDY
- Naya Sojourners - GDY. It was the first GDY promo and didn't get the full art treatment, however it did get alternate art
- Mycoid Shepherd - GDY
- Nissa's Chosen - GDY
- Emeria Angel - GDY
- Hada Freeblade - GDY

Archangel is a Gotta Magazine insert: http://www.magiclibrarities.net/81-rarities-gotta-magazine-inserts-japanese-cards-2000.html#card001.
Those inserts don't have Deckmaster backs. The only reason it's included in the promos is because it has alternate art.

Thanks for all your patient work on a up-to-date masterbase
I think that it would be usefull to have a database with all infos which would be independant of the software used (as they keep changing). The .csv file may be the best solution but I keep having problems to edit it properly. I already tried excel, calc, notepad++, csved... Could someone help me to manually edit such bases ?

_S3BaS_, thank you very much for making the updates! The next step that should be taken on this project is to use everyone's collective knowledge on these forums to get the new promo sets added and use Nyth and Ark's info to categorize everything more accurately.
I would support Jace going into HPB and keeping it under that name or renaming it to BKP, mostly because it has the exact same set symbol as the HPB promos. And after looking into it more, BOX/FBP should definitely be called BAB, Buy-a-Box Promo, as Nyth suggested.
So, who knows how to add new sets? And how hard is it to make your own masterbase? Perhaps I could start learning.
Also, once we get this as updated as we can, there really needs to be one giant release with ALL the promo HQ scans in a single file. It takes forever to get everything individually (speaking from experience here) if you're setting up a fresh MWS. Not to mention it would be nice to have a masterbase release and promo scans release that agree with each other on set codes and file names.
