Well, it's trying to auto connect, which will not work. Without the gem I don't know how to change it, hopefully someone can help. Have you rebooted? What OS are you using?

I have rebooted, which didn't seem to help at first. Later, I checked out the task manager to find that manalink.exe was running -- and I tried running it in compatibility mode for XP SP3 (I am running windows 7), which made the gem magically reappear (no idea why). I later reset it to run normally in Win7, and it remains.
After this, my room mate and I tried to get a game going -- both running windows 7, with the latest patch which was posted in the Demonoid comments by Huggybaby, and having accurately followed the multiplayer directions. We successfully played 1.5 games (the first was with preconstructed decks which came with the install, the second was with custom built decks), before both games crashed simultaneously. Now, unfortunately, I am getting a E009 - cannot create direct play session on this server.
One computer is able to host, lighting up the gem with "NET", the other gets the E009. So, I'm a bit bewildered by the whole situation. Two identical installs, one of which can't connect. Also, the whole invisible manalink gem was quite strange. I think I have detailed the whole of my experience, so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks again for an awesome game!!

Also, I was able to disable the autoconnect feature successfully -- so that's no longer an issue. Sadly, still without connectivity.

Some tips from here: http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... S:official
I can only access the first page, I can't access the other two even though I registered. Maybe Goblin Hero or some other Russian speaking guy can.
In manalink.ini, change the port number from 119 to 27500
Try Hamachi

It's no consolation, but I just tried and I get the same message. I don't have anyone to connect to and I've never done it before, and without that experience I can't help much.

Hi.
I downloaded and installed the MTG Custom installer 2010, everything went fine. Installed to default path with short name, copied New card arts (and lowered sounds 'cause they were annoying in previous versions so I deleted them :p).
Anyways, I made deck with all the new shiny cards and was able to get into duel. My deck had Polluted Delta, which I played and tried to tutor for land cards. Game froze. Game just waited and waited (mouse changed to waiting icon). I could preview cards on the field etc. but nothing just happened. It felt like AI didn't know how to handle the card and just started think what to do.
I ran few tests after that, by making a deck with 38 Polluted deltas, 1 swamp and island. Me and AI had those decks. AI goes first and game froze immediately in his main phase. wtf? Same things happened with every other Land-Tutoring-Lands.
Ok, so that was problem #1. Second one is that I downloaded somebody's deck on the forums, which I couldn't play because I didn't have all the cards, but in the deckeditor there were cards that weren't normally in deck editor. Like 1 card was kobold legend and it gave all kobolds +2/+2 or something like that. My editor doesn't have card like that but it was still there.
I have no idea what I have done wrong here, and I thought this should be easy enough. :/ Im running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.
TL:DR. Polluted Delta doesn't work, weird cards in deck which aren't in editor, W7 Ultimate 64-bit.
Edit. Im going to DL manually manalink 2.0 etc. as guided in the guide. This seemed to work somehow when I quickly tested it with my old magic (1.32 manalink I think). But gonna do clean install now and see how it works.
Edit2. Finally after hours of installing, I think I got it now somehow working (not the custom installer). Dunno do I have all the new cards but atleast I got some :/.

The ISO is really made to play shandalar. If you want help with all the new cards and updates you'll have to ask over in that forum.

Defense Grid doesn't seem to work.A strange bug,AI casts most of the times Mox Diamond without discarding a land, or sacrificing it.Though it works fine when in my hands,I tested it a lot.

I understand the confusion over the date. That's why we put "Microprose" in the title. Besides, ours came out before the other one.

I've run a test on Polluted Delta, and it plays fine in WinXP.
It maybe a shot in the dark, but there has been much talk about the new restricted folder ownership/permissions settings implemented when using the standard Windows 7 install procedure. It maybe many Windows 7 users are having problems with the game due to this.
From what I gather, in some cases running older games as the Administrator may fix many of the problems. In others, it requires changing the ownership or the access permission of the folder the game is installed to do the trick.
If anybody has more of an idea on this issue, and whether it would solve many of the problems apparent with this old 16-bit game and Window 7.
Post a definitive answer here... because I couldn't find one - even on the Microsoft site.

All the downloads you need for the ISO version of the game are in this folder - and only this folder.MindlessZero wrote:Ok, so that was problem #1. Installing any other files you find in the Manalink 2.0 forum is only guaranteed to corrupt the ISO version of the game.

Hi,
im a a new user, the ISO is very awesome, respect for that. But i have a problem, and i used the search function but didnt find anything. The game works well, but the font size of the cards description is to big. There is text which i cant read, ist out of the border. Is that a bug, or is there any option to set the text font of the cards smaller? i put a picture with this problem in the attachement. sorry for my english and thank you!
