Database format?
by Stromglad1 » 07 Jul 2010, 05:15
I've been looking for a program to use to catalogue my magic collection, and stumbled across Magic Album. It mostly does what I want, except for one thing -- I'd like to be able to generate printable inventory checklists of individual sets that would show what I have / what I'm missing (something like this http://i48.tinypic.com/35nca4p.jpg ).
As Magic Album doesn't do anything like that, I was wondering -- Are Magic Album's databases in any kind of documented format that I'd be able to open from an external program, and if so, what would that be? I tried googling .bp but that didn't turn up anything helpful. I'm trying to figure out if it'd be possible for me to write a program to analyze Magic Album's Database/Inventory/Prices files in order to generate some lists, but I haven't had any luck trying to read the .bp files.

Have you tried this in MA?
Inventory Statistics->Missing Cards->Export to File
Very similar to what you want. And you can add your wishes to the official wishlist.
MA file formats are not documented. I can document deck or inventory formats but it's useless because it have tight relation with the primary database and I do not want MA primary database to be freely available. Not now.

When you´re a goblin, you don´t have to step forward to be a hero -- everyone else just has to step back.

I did see the export missing cards option in MA, and I can probably manually put together the lists I want between the export inventory and export missing cards options, but I was hoping I'd be able to put together something a bit more automated. Oh well, thanks anyway.
