(New) Duels of the Planeswalkers for PC

Postby Huggybaby » 06 Jun 2010, 18:47

I don't have an XBox 360 and wouldn't buy one just for this game, so it's great that the new Duels of the Planeswalkers for PC is now available for preorder. The bad part is that it's on Steam, the good part is that it's only ten bucks and includes the first expansion (a five dollar value1) free.

It should be released the middle of this month.

I already ordered it. Although I really dislike steam. First game I bought over it. My question is where did you get the info it will be realesed mid month? Or did you just speculate?

I also don't like Steam, and also this is the first thing I've ever bought from it.

The release date is speculation from the forums, but the order page says it's coming out this month.

I hate the idea of Steam, but I have to admit Valve haven't pushed any of my paranoia buttons since I got the Orange Box.

What exactly will be the expansions? Add decks or something? I don't want to buy it if I must pay for 6-7 expansion to play the game.

Expansions are five dollars. Only one is available for PC and you don't need it to play.

Expansion 1

Take on Magic's iconic dragon Planeswalker Nicol Bolas, one of the new opponents featured in this Duels of the Planeswalker expansion. Plus, three new playable decks; three new unlockable cards for each of the eight original decks, three new puzzling challenges, and new Two-Headed Giant co-op levels. Put your spell-slinging skills to the test and defeat the new single-player campaign to unlock Sarkhan Vol's and Jace Beleren's new Planeswalker decks!

I have the steam version but I also downloaded the cracked one. Is it "safe" to mod my steam version? Or should I play with the cracked one instead. When or where can I get the mod?

I would not use steam to go online with mod cards.

It does not matter if you mod steam and play, just don't use the custom decks.

The tools can be found in these threads.

Uresti gives a very good and easy to follow example on how to make a black knight. That should get you started on making your own cards, and understanding what functions you have to work with.

What is steam? Is this up and running for multiplayer? Is it like the Micoprose game or is this like magic online where you have to buy cards? :(
