Not so good a day today... I'm now 18-24. I did pick up a Lightning Dragon.

In general I take the upgrades to make more money first. This is probably the least useful, but I like money.
While you are developing the deck you should rarely buy cards unless they are super cheap AND awesome. Burn spells are about the only cards I will buy early on because Lightning Bolt, etc. are powerful and low cost.
I usually just play 40 card decks in quest mode. I start out with whatever color has the best creatures / planeswalkers. Eventually (around 75-100 wins) my goal is to play a legacy Zoo style deck and/or a deck with insane vintage blue spells and fliers.

Forget Imperial Recruiter being obscenely priced, Just sold an Ancestral Recall.. o_O A wee bit more understandable, though. Now maxed out the bazaar upgrades at 76-2. Time to start over with two new random colors!

So now you're

Evil puppet demon of obesity
Time to change the tune of his fearful ballad
C is for "Lettuce," that's good enough for me

I am still working slowly on my RW quest. I am 151 / 8. I won a Mox Jet that I do not need but I have not yet sold it. I have 38034 credits in the bank unspent. I will likely start a new quest at some point in the near future.

Finished tonight's session with a 32-32 record. Was 2 matches over .500 at one point. Picked up a Bogardan Hellkite that is now happily ensconced in my red deck. Picked up a few more slivers as well.

Note to self: make a green deck before playing against The Great Gazoo deck again. That's waaaaay too much protection from red.

@timmermac
I find that a lot of quest games can be won by just playing really aggressive / low casting cost cards. This is especially true early although probably not true now that you've played 64 games. Some games the AI doesn't play anything until turn 4 and you could have the AI down to 12 or less life by that time with a reasonable number of cheap creatures.

I know. I've got a fair number of low-casting-cost creatures in the deck, including a significant number of goblins. However, there are certain decks that I find I don't match up too well against. The Great Gazoo is one example of this. Every creature that deck put out against me had protection from red. Fortunately, I now have a black deck and a green deck ready to go against that one. I also buy any sliver I see in the card shop, plus there are components to my Burning Elves deck that I am actively looking for as well.

Holy buckets... In the new cards pack after my latest match: Ulamog's Crusher and an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn... I'm currently 50-72.

finished the day 51-75. At my current pace, I won't get to 70 wins this "season." I may have to trim some cards off of the red deck. The black deck and the green deck are doing reasonably well. I don't currently have any cards valuable enough to be able to get the credits needed to enhance my life total or purchase pets/wall. Hopefully, I'll get a Black Lotus at some point.

Does anybody have any luck whatsoever against the Samantha Stephens deck? Painter's Servant+Grindstone = irritated human opponent.

When you get up to opponents that tough, I think it's best to use equally unfair/powerful cards/combos. If not, pack a lot of removal or bounce, or just throw one of the legendary Eldrazi into your deck to prevent yourself from being milled.
I do think there's a case to be made for making the Painter-Grindstone deck a special quest opponent -- it's harder than some that already are.

I just stuck a pair of Emrakul, the Aeons Torn into my sliver deck. That should allow me to at least have a chance against Samantha Stephens. <chuckles wickedly> If I get more of the legendary Eldrazi, they're getting added as well.... Those things are insta-wins if I can get one of them out. Their minions are fairly nasty buggers as well.
