I have had this exact difficulty. I have tried with multiple decks and the same thing happens. I select the opponent and the program goes to the loading screen, but while it's loading, it suddenly stops and the game crashes with no explanation beyond "the program has stopped working".

This problem has been going on for months and I have not been able to play it any further than the Mishra stage because of this problem. Needless to say, it's very frustrating. Anyone have ideas as to why this might be happening or how to fix it?

I'm running Windows 7, 64-bit & I've tried running the game in various comparability modes. Let me know if there's any additional information that you might need. Thanks in advance!

Really? Has no one else encountered this problem with the game crashing?

I've seen crashes while playing with and against other people's cards, but I can start up a match vs. Mishra.

Can you browse through the cards in the 4-color Affinity deck? And do any of them appear to be missing pictures or text? Or are the cards themselves missing?

That specific deck is fine, I can browse through it and it appears to have all of the cards & card art.

I also just updated my video driver to the latest release from the manufacturer & it still crashed when I tried to start up a match against Mishra, so I don't think it's that.

Thanks. Any other ideas?

Edit (with notepad++ ) 8888_AI_AFFINITY.XML and replace AVATAR_14 by 8888_AVATAR_MISHRAOLD for exemple

Is "8888_AI_AFFINITY.XML" a file name? I can't seem to find that file in the DLC mod 2 folder. In fact, there doesn't seem to be any *.xml files in that folder at all (except for uninstall). I don't think it's anywhere else either. Could it be called something else?

Thanks!

You have to unpack the DATA_DLC_1111.WAD with gibbed Tools

I believe I have found a solution! I uninstalled the custom DLC mod, re-downloaded it and re-installed it along with the three patches. It now works fine and I have played and beaten Mishra!

I had previously uninstalled & reinstalled it from the file I had downloaded originally. I assume that there was some data corruption in the files I originally downloaded. Seems so simple, I know. Hopefully this can help Peterbxb & anyone else that may encounter this issue!

Thanks to everyone that offered advice!

And happy forth of July to everyone in the US!
