What is the order in which you plan to release new cards? Is there a general roadmap you follow? Seeing that you focus on newer sets/cards (which makes sense, to allow playing standard/extended decks), what are the chances that you implement older cards? I am thinking about Beta/Unlimited and the first expansions (Arabian Nights, The Dark, Antiquities, Legends). I know, they are of little relevance to todays tournament play, but I would love to create and use some really classic decks.

I believe there is no roadmap for cards we follow when implementing new cards. What can I say is that most recent cards have the highest priority, but not always. It also often depends on the deck we would like to see in Mage, so we get the list of such deck and start implementing old cards one by one, but only those of them that are in specific deck.
Anyway posting cards here will increase the chance to see them in new releases.

A good deck to get an idea of what your AI is capable of would be Cali-Nightmare or RecSur.
Just get Recurring Nightmare and Survival of the Fittest implemented and the other cards can be thrown in as is.
