When I play DotP I get they idea they put a lot of effort into AI, pat themselves on the back and paid a 12 year old to design a GUI, the graphics are okay, but the ability for the player to actually interact with the program is so bad it would probably be more fun watching the AI play with itself.

also, there are still plenty of computers out there that can't handle DotP's overdone graphics. plus forge doesn't cost anything, and you don't always have to jump through hoops to use the cards you want.mtgrares wrote:It is interesting that you enjoy Forge more than DotP. When I first heard about DotP I thought that it would kill Forge but it didn't. (Forge has the whole "I'm cool since I'm an indie game" going for it.)

exactly!Hellfish wrote:. . . Now, I put it to you, how graphically demanding can/should a card game be?
although Magic Online works OK on lesser graphics hardware.

But on the other hand, Magic Online costs a fair bit of money to get the cards you want. Paper magic is always my number one, if I can't get that, then forge is the only thing I even consider anymore.

paper magic has that one annoying property of having to sort the cards in one's collection.Accountancy wrote:But on the other hand, Magic Online costs a fair bit of money to get the cards you want. Card sorting is part of the fun for me... My friend had gotten a couple boxes of cards from one of his friends who hadn't played in 12 years. We had a blast sorting the old cards, especially since I didn't start playing until 2003. Arabian Nights, The Dark, Ice Age, tons of Revised....
I have a couple friends from the local FNM, who have gotten invites (with plane tickets) to pro tours based on their grinding away on Modo, but they then end up having to borrow tons of paper cards (because they spent all their cash for digital cards (at full MSRP)) in order to build decent decks to play at the event.
I get to go to FNM a couple times a month, I always spend about 20 bucks and get 6 packs of the latest sets, sometimes I draft for 10 bucks, and buy the other 3 afterwards if I don't qualify for prizes.
