Deck Editor - Opening or Filtering is Slow - Why?
by Krizzen » 20 Jul 2011, 03:10
Well the subject says it all really.
I understand there's a lot of hard work going into this project, but its hard to deny that the deck editor is quite slow. I'm not looking for a fix necessarily, but I'd like someone some light on the issue.
Thanks!

Which OS are you using. How do you start forge? How much memory does your computer have?
I noticed forge slowing down and becoming unresponsive a number of months ago. Increasing the java heap space improved the responsiveness.

Win7 64-bit
4 GB RAM
2.6 Ghz Quad-core AMD
Forge settles at about 350 MB on main menu after startup.
It uses about 420 MB in the deck editor.
Its just 9 seconds shy of taking 1 minute to load the deck editor.

the deck editor is slow because of technical reasons. fixing its performance would enhance forge greatly, but the programming code is difficult to change. it requires someone with a great deal of familiarity and tech bravery. that person is not me. i'd have to rewrite the Cursed Monstrosity Twisted Abomination Clockwork Beast.
