Bug reports
by jmagicdev » 12 Jul 2011, 01:50
Logs of what happened can be found in a jMagic sub-directory of your home directory ("/home/user/.jmagic" in Linux, "C:\Users\user\AppData\jMagic" in Windows Vista/7, "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\jMagic" in Windows XP). Up to 10 logs are stored but only the one with the most recent modified time is the one that corresponds to your most recent game.
Please post any bugs you find in this thread. Make sure to include exactly what happened and to attach the relevant log file.

Not well integrated with OSX.
Version: 0.8
OS: Mac OSX 10.6.8
My Mac thinks that jMagic is named "org.rnd.jmagic.gui.Start", and shows that name in the Launch Bar, in the menu bar (the menus at the top of the screen) and various other places.
Also.. when I go to org.rnd.jmagic.gui.Start -> "About org.rnd.jmagic.gui.Start" in the menu bar, I get a window that says that this is version 1.0. I have attached a screenshot of that window.

I can not quit the application while the Game Finder window is open.
Version: 0.8
OS: Mac OSX 10.6.8
Steps:
Open jMagic
Click "Find Games"
Press Command+Q on keyboard. (Nothing will happen).
Click on application menu "org.rnd.jmagic.gui.Start", click "Quit org.rnd.jmagic.gui.Start" (nothing will happen).
When the Game Finder window is not open (either before I open it, or if I close that window by clicking the X), I can exit jMagic by doing either of the things I did in the steps above.

EDIT: This turned out to be a problem with y properties file, where something was set that made the game stop looking for new players as soon as there was 1 player in the game. jMagic does work on Mac OSX.
Game Over immediately after trying to host a game.
Version: 0.8
OS: Mac OSX 10.6.8
java version "1.6.0_26"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02-384, mixed mode)
Steps:
Open jMagic
Set Port to 4099
Selected "zoo.txt" deck from Legacy folder
Goto "Host"
Set Game type to "Legacy"
Click "Host". UPDATE: Same thing happens if I click "Host Publicly". (When I click Host Publicly.. and then go check to see if my game is on the list of public games, it is not..)
Game will open up at this point.. on the left under the card image is written "Game Over". In the log on the right: "Dither chose Dither to play first. Game Over". No other players appear to be in the game. I have attached a screenshot of the game window.
I already spoke to one of the developers, who had me try deleting my config.properties and try again.. did not help. I checked the log file, and other than showing that jMagic started and that it had loaded 3000 cards so far, nothing was in there (literally, these were the only two things)

Can not close Game Finder window using keyboard shortcut.
Version: 0.8
OS: Mac OSX 10.6.8
java version "1.6.0_26"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_26-b03-384-10M3425)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.1-b02-384, mixed mode)
On a Mac, it is standard to be able to close the active window by hitting Command+W (the same as Ctrl+F4 in Windows). This does not appear to work on the Game Finder window in jMagic (or any window I've tested in jMagic actually).
Steps:
Open jMagic
Click "Find Games"
Press Command+W (nothing will happen).
This leaves me with only one option.. to click the tiny little red X. Especially because the "jMagic Start" window becomes disabled while the Game Finder window is open.

The Mac-specific keyboard shortcuts will take some looking-into. Same with the OSX-specific application menu (we test on Windows XP and Ubuntu and don't have access to much else). If anyone with Java experience on a Mac is reading this and can provide help, it would be greatly appreciated.
The Game Over bug is very peculiar and not at all Mac-specific (I don't think). It sounds like your game is being hosted with one player -- the game is auto-choosing who goes first, you don't see a player card or hand zone for the opponent, and the game ends immediately. We aren't sure what could be causing that but we will be digging!

Sorry, no logs for any of these (I'll get them next time).
I've had 2/2 crashes playing Leyline of Sanctity. Once was from the opening hand, the second time was in normal play.
Another crash was when I somehow accidentally played a land on a non-main phase.
Thanks for the game - it's great.

Tuktuk Scrapper also crashes in 0.8, after you target the artifact (first ally cast)

Ah yes, Furnace Scamp's sacrifice trigger should be optional, not mandatory.

Our apologies. This bug has been fixed and is in the next release.richd wrote:I've had 2/2 crashes playing Leyline of Sanctity. Once was from the opening hand, the second time was in normal play.
This is... curious. We would really need to see the log files to determine how this happened.richd wrote:Another crash was when I somehow accidentally played a land on a non-main phase.

Arc Trail's text is incorrect, even though its effects are correct.

Natural Order is modal, and prompts you to select a mode, even though it doesn't show any. Game can't continue.
Text looks like this: As an additional cost to cast Natural Order, sacrifice a green creature.
Choose one — ; or ; or ; or Search your library for a green creature card and put it onto the battlefield. Then shuffle your library.
