visible round corners ? How ? Hqs don't have full borders. I certainly left collectors ed square corners alone.
update: I see what you're seeing. Those are not traces of the cut, those small triangles really are there. All very early sets have an outer second border, unlike all the recent ones, which have only the regular one.
But no backs, sorry.

So I'm going to head out shopping today and see the scanner selection available locally. Dubai seems to pride itself on technology and all sorts of stuff so I do hope I find what I'm looking for.

I was looking at the White LED scanners prior to me just getting a Non-LED model but never managed to get a chance to do a test scan. If someone has had a chance and could post example's I would be interested in the information as well.extreme wrote:A swift search of Canon, HP and Epson - which I think are the best scanner brands - reveals an interesting thing: pretty much all canons and epsons nowadays are LED and HP doesn't say anything about the light source. That is worrying. HOwever, there is another thing: some of them (the more expensive ones) have a "white led" lightsouce. I don't know if the LED scanners that give that awful color banding have white leds or an array of RGB ones. White leds might be good. Is there any way to test a little before you buy ?

Yeah, but I still think the matte acetate works pretty well to cover up the light scattering the foils cause:
viewtopic.php?f=15&t=453&p=45483#p45483
Sure, at first glance, the contrast isn't quite as good under the acetate, but that's because the histogram is stretched to scan the non-acetate part at the same time too.

i wish it would be that simple. Acetate kills sharpness, has its own grain, scratches dust and all other stuff which adds to the existing ones, the central part is much better than the edges, it also adds color shift and histogram stretching means that the available levels are much less - resulting in lost detail in shadows for ex.
Also, the reflections are not eliminated, just attenuated.

Oversize Box Toppers
by Huggybaby » 13 Feb 2012, 21:08
Someone buy extreme a beer, he lost one or two of his abnormally gloriously thick and rich hair follicles struggling with these.
I don't know why, they're bigger right? So they should be easier to work on, right?
These have been a long time coming for some reason. Some of them have promo markings. And I left the directories in the sort of strange hybrid MA structure we have going on now, just to give you guys a peek behind the scenes. I'm sure all those folks who repackage these without giving us credit will arrange them to suit their liking.

PS A heads up to everyone: I've quit uploading to Rapidshare, it was too much of a PIA to use any more. A lot of those files have been lost due to inactivity, so be it.
Regarding MediaFire: I pioneered the use of that service, I've been using it since it was in beta. They initially had no file size restrictions! With the recent trouble MF is looking too good to be true. Do not be surprised, I've warned you more than once.
Total Storage Used
11 GB
From 519 total files
Total Downloads Served
1,870,028
Since January 26, 2007
Est. Bandwidth Served
50.65 TB
From Currently Hosted Files
Almost 2 million downloads!
And that doesn't include all our Rapidshare stuff which was a lot, and the torrent which accounts for easily as much bandwidth as MF.
There are some very popular projects here, but HQ Pics are king. They are the standard.

They are bigger but the sizes are all over the place, they are not square, the backs don't have borders and since all edges are a bit worn I had to paint everything. Had to measure every card as well. Extremely tedious.

By the way, what about Italian Junior League Oversized Promos (http://www.magiclibrarities.net/252-rar ... index.html)?
On Magic Librarities web-site they have the size of usual cards, that is too small.

I have been working on getting the high-res pics for all of the sets for Cockatrice (since it auto-downloads very low-res pics). This post is somewhat of a guide, and also feedback for the OP.
I downloaded everything from "CCGHQ MTG English Pics Fulls" in the OP. It seemed like there were some low-res duplicates in there. I tried to get rid of the low-res dupes, and then merge & overwrite the low-res pics I already had.
I then used http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ma ... ering_sets to make a spreadsheet to start organizing things, adding a column for the "MWS set code" and "what sets are in cockatrice currently":
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... EtzWWFidnc
This spreadsheet was also a good way for me to sort the sets by date (and order the sets in cockatrice to show the newest version of the card first).
Going through how Cockatrice is labeling sets, and comparing to "SET NAMES & CODES - BY TYPE OF SET" in the OP, I found these differences:
The following are sets still needed to complete the Cockatrice set list:
Finally, I took the sets in cockatrice, 7-zipped each one, and then uploaded them into this folder:
http://www.mediafire.com/?jsg5b1c3agu6c
The extra sets that are not in cockatrice I put in this folder:
http://www.mediafire.com/?nxa3lu5a32juh
I spent a bunch of time going through these things, so thought I'd share the info, and share the errors I found. Please let me know if I did anything stupid.

No, you didn't do anything stupid.
Once in a while someone goes through all our offerings and determines what is needed to get everything updated and correct. The shortcoming has always been the follow through. Nobody has the time to take these findings and put them into action.

Hello,
I am new to MWS and I am trying to gather the complete up to date card pictures. I have downloaded both torrents on the first page on the sticky,
COMPLETE 10E HQ PICS TORRENT
LORWYN UPDATE .
Can anyone link me to what else I need to download to get up to date with the latest release? Also can anyone tell me where to put these files?
Thanks,
David

RobbieG - have you tested to see if viewtopic.php?f=96&t=3371 can download the pictures and name them in a manner that works with Cockatrice? I know I've tested it with MWS, but I don't use Cockatrice.
