The AI will activate the ability of Veldrane of Sengir ability more than once per turn. This is, shall we say, counterproductive.

I'm having the same problem with quest challenge opponents not receiving the bonus in-play cards they should at the start of games that someone else reported previously. I've tried a number of things to fix it on my end, but even my latest attempt (downloading a fresh copy of Forge from the link in the first post of this thread, unzipping it to a new folder, re-downloading all the card pics, starting a new quest, and then playing it until I had unlocked challenge mode) failed to remedy the problem.
I have no clue what might be causing the issue for me and not for others, but it's very annoying since the challenges were basically the only opponents I faced in quest mode. I've had the problem for quite some time now (as you might tell from the lengths I've gone to try to fix it myself) - the last beta where quest mode worked perfectly was at least 1.2.3 or before (not sure exactly which and not sure how to check since the way quest information is saved has apparently changed). Anyway, if anyone could do anything about this, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just OS + Forge + Firefox. AV off, minimal startup and services config, etc.Chris H. wrote:A computer with only 1 GB of memory may find that it is not enough to hold the operating system + forge + whatever other apps that you may have open while running forge.
I've stopped running my browser while running Forge. I think it helps.
Could be, with it running RAM that high. It's not maxing out according to task manager, but windows does stupid things so I wouldn't doubt it. I have 2 or 3GB page file on a 10krpm SATA(1) HD.Chris H. wrote:It sounds like your computer may be paging memory in and out to the hard drive.
Not a fair comparison.Chris H. wrote:My computer has 6 GB of memory and I do not see this slow down. I tend to have OS Lion + Safari web browser with multiple tabs open + text editor + a shareware graphics app + Eclipse dev system open when I launch forge. I sometimes have 2 or 3 instances of forge open at the same time.

I am using LQ Set Pictures (http://mark.tvk.rwth-aachen.de/software/forge/). I'll try removing them to test. If it makes a huge difference then I'll LQ Card Pics to see how that goes. Nice suggestion.Chris H. wrote:The card pics can take up a lot of memory. Try using LQ pics rather than HQ pics. Or remove the pics and see if forge will run without slow downs.
I haven't noticed new product pics, but if they were in the last version too I wouldn't know the difference since I've only started with Forge. I use default skin. Can I turn any of this stuff off?Chris H. wrote:The new product pics for boosters, fatpacks, precons and tournamentpacks might be taking up some of your limited memory. The new skins might also be taking up some additional memory.
Please don't take my speculation as criticism of the devs or as unappreciative! This work is comprehensive and very well done. As a community project, the devs, testers and contributors have brought Forge to an impressively high degree of functionality. I'm new and didn't see the progress, but I know it didn't simply poof into existence when I downloaded it. I only meant to say I recognize it as a work in progress so things aren't perfect yet, and I don't know what stage of refinement it is in. If my problems are possibly a result of yet to be optimized code or of other possibilities. Moomarc said memory use has been majorly cleaned up, so that answers that.Chris H. wrote:The devs are all volunteers and they devote what little free time that they can find in their busy lives to this project.
I'm taking up way too much space in this thread on something that is not specific to this build. It might not even be directly related to Forge itself but a technical issue on my end that affects Forge. I've brought up the issue; I'll try what I can, and if anything further can be done to optimize resource use in the coming versions, I look forward to those improvements. If anyone has additional comments or suggestions on what I can try on my end, please PM me. I'll report back if it works. Thanks.

@ aleatherglove
Quit Firefox before running forge is a good idea. Web browsers can consume a lot of memory.
You should make sure that you only have low quality pics installed, they are about 200 x 285 pixels in size. The high quality pics are about 400+ x 600+ pixels in size and as such will require more memory.
If you still notice the slow downs with only OS + forge then I would suggest that you create a new testing copy of fogre from the archive but do not add any card pics to this new copy. Then run forge and see if it runs without slowdowns.

Bugged card: Curse of Bloodletting
Behaviour: If a source would deal (combat?) damage to enchanted player, it deals zero damage to that player instead.
Expected: If a source would deal damage to enchanted player, it deals double damage to that player instead.
EDIT: I tried it with Fling and Devil's Play. Direct damage to the head has no effect either.

- Specifics | Open
- Setup at Turn 9 as follows.
AI Life=14, Battlefield: swamp x2, forest, Wakedancer.
My Life=18, Battlefield: forest x2, mountain x2, Darkthicket Wolf, Wildblood Pack
Turn 9: Computer casts Moonmist. [AI has no clue how to use this card.]
Turn 10: I play forest, tap out to cast Curse of Bloodletting (target=AI).
Declare attack with Darkthicket Wolf 2/2 and Wildblood Pack 5/5 (Both gain +3/+0).
AI assigns Wakedancer 2/2 to block Darkthicket 5/2.
Log shows the Curse effect -- ReplacementEffect: If a source would deal damage to enchanted player, it deals double that damage instead.
Wakedancer and Darkthicket Wolf die as expected.
AI should have taken 8x2=16 damage from Wildblood 8/5 and GG. But my M2 came up and AI is still at 14 life.
Turn 11: AI casts Villagers of Estwald.
Turn 12: I play mountain. Cast Mayor of Avabruk.
Attack with Wildblood 5/5 +3/+0.
AI blocks with Villagers 2/3
3 damage on villagers, the rest (5 dmg) Tramples to player.
Villagers die. AI should have taken 5x2=10, but still at 14 life!
I cast Travel Preparations on both creatures. Go.
Turn 13: Wildblood transforms back to instigator gang 2+2/3+2 (+1 from Prep, +1 for humans from Mayor).
AI casts Scorned Villagers.
Turn 14: I attack with instigator gang 4/5 and Mayor 2/2. Unblocked. No damage is dealt to player.
Turn 15: instigator, mayor, and villagers transform.
AI casts Wild Hunger on Moonscarred Werewolf.
Does not attack (huh?)

Stalking Yeti reads only
When Stalking Yeti enters the battlefield, if it's on the battlefield, it deals damage equal to its power to target creature an opponent controls
2 S: Return Stalking Yeti to its owner's hand. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery.

- Painbringer works kind of strange - I have 2 cards in my graveyard, but Painbringer asks to remove 0 or 1 card, and when I select 1 card none is removed, but -1/-1 works...
- AI activates Viscid Lemures again and again, even in my turn.
- When I block an attacking Phage the Untouchable with a River Kelpie, the Kelpie is destroyes after it returns via persist.

Looks like its a problem with all ExileFromGrave<X/...> costs. I'm not sure whether this has always been a problem or whether its due to some recent changes by max or friarsol. Hopefully one of them will have a chance to look at it. I'll try in the meanwhile, but not hopeful that my skills are up to the task....cc-drake wrote:- Painbringer works kind of strange - I have 2 cards in my graveyard, but Painbringer asks to remove 0 or 1 card, and when I select 1 card none is removed, but -1/-1 works...
