No more blogging
by mtgrares » 30 Apr 2012, 16:43
My blog has been fun but I won't be writing any more. It has been a great 5 years and I'm happy that it gets 650 hits a day but real life is picking up and I have less and less free time. I will direct people to cardforge.org and this forum.
Thanks to everybody who has worked on Forge.
I will still be "around" but I won't be blogging.

I'll miss it. I hope by "real life" you mean that you've found some more programming work.
Thanks for all the reading and insights you've given us.

Thanks for the entertaining and insightful reading over the years. And most importantly, thanks for sharing the original Forge with us and in doing so allowing Forge to grow into what it has become. Hope we'll see you checking in here occasionally to have a chat (and maybe throw a lines of code in occasionally)

I'm glad that people enjoyed my blogging. Most of the time I didn't know what to write about, so I did my best. Some of my writing was a little wierd but that is what happens when you let people see inside your head.
I'm in the middle of an air condition and heating school. Choosing the AC field is a little random but at least everybody needs their AC fixed sometime.
I still think about new programming projects. I want to do a simple game with 2 starter decks from The Spoils and see if the owning company is interested in a full project that has all 300 cards but I haven't anything started yet. It needs to have a better AI and user interface than Forge.
Any Magic player could pick up and play The Spoils easily because it plays very similarly to Magic. Basic resource cards are needed to pay for some cards but any creature can be played as a resource. Basic resource cards are like basic lands and playing a creature as a resource is like a land that produces colorless mana. Creatures have values for attack, defense, and speed where higher speed creatures deal their damage before lower speed creatures. And combat damage is "locked in" like Magic's old combat rules.

Good choice. HVAC is good, I think electricians and plumbers can always get work too. I wish I had become an electrician rather than go into electronics.

Will miss the blogging... Let us know if anything comes of the Spoils thing!

So now you're
Screaming for the blood of the cookie monster
Evil puppet demon of obesity
Time to change the tune of his fearful ballad
C is for "Lettuce," that's good enough for me

You guys have done a great job with Forge. You added more cards and features than I ever thought was possible. I was just happy to advertise it on my blog.

With the spoils, I need to only implement 20 cards in order to get two decks working but I'm a really lazy programmer. (Maybe all programmers are lazy, who knows?)
