Pals, it is possible to have a preview of the new avatars, please?
I would like to see what I'm next to install.
Also, can we edit the files used to create the custom avatars for Shandlar?

Unfortunately, Shandalar still uses the proprietary Microprose .PIC format for everything except DeckBuilder and Duel UI. Avatars, Towns, World Map, etc all use the old 256 color format.
In addition, the only tool we have to convert to Microprose .PIC is Mok's BMP2PIC.EXE, and the Avatars it creates look incorrect in Shandalar (it appears that the transparency values are different and the mask is shifted to the right by 1 or 2 pixels, take a look at the Avatars in Shandalar 2012 to see what I mean). Most likely, we're stuck with the current ones until some smart cookie updates the other areas of Shandalar.exe so that they too will load .BMPs like everything else.

Thank you! They are really colored and nice but imho there are some of them like Chun-Li from street fighter II and other anime characters that don't fit the game.
In short, they go to replace the old ones from the original game, right? And they can be used as portraits for the human player.
They are good for sure, even if... it is really my personal opionion: don't take me for somebody that always has to complain about anything, but they really change the game's flavor without really improving it.
It is like comparing a game with Unlimited cards (simple and enjoyable, very medieval but limited) with another one with modern cards (much more complex, fast but also more complicated): it is different and very depends from personal tastes.
For now, I prefer to keep the old ones and, if one day you will include an improved version of them together with the new ones, then I will gladly use them. It shouldn't be that hard to do: many of them were inspired by true magic cards so it wouldn't be that difficult to use a good picture of Mahamoti Djinn or Baron Sengir to replace Microprose's Djinn or Vampire characters

There are not replacement of the original portrait, but rather added portrait for players.
Of course you could just replace them by renaming them but the patcher has been replaced with the original images for more flexibility.
