How do people play Forge?
by mcrawford620 » 08 Aug 2012, 18:16
Have we ever had a poll or any usage stats on how people actually play Forge?
- Constructed
- With your own deck creations
- With downloaded decks
- Limited
- Sealed
- Draft
- Which cubes/sets?
- Quest Mode

I play predominantly constructed with my own decks against random theme decks or quest decks.
Occasionally I'll try a draft or sealed deck game, but I never had a chance to play these formats in real life so definitely not my strongest point. I'll also start up an easy fantasy quest from time to time, but between work and my wife, I'm usually too short on time to build up something good.
But truth-be-told, I have some of the most fun trying to get new cards working so often my actual Forge time is limited to starting a random constructed game, use dev tools and my Developer's Little Helper to get the cards and game state I want, test a scenario then concede and quit

Quest mode until I get tired of losing matches to the missing cards bug.
I sure wish one of the super nice, uber talented, incredibly gifted devs would smash this bug once and for all!

I play Constructed exclusively, almost always one of my own decks versus a randomly generated AI deck.
I've never, not once, tried any Limited format in Forge, and I tried Quest once for about ten minutes.

I have played all of the game modes offered since I discovered Forge back in 2008.
Recently I downloaded all of the decks from Gos and I do like to select random decks for both the AI and myself.

Almost only draft.
User experience, make or break. MtG drafting is fun.

Exclusively quest mode.

Purely Constructed. I quit at the end of 7th Ed-ish so I've just taken to playing exclusively with every card in the new card design format that came out since then.

Almost only with randomly generated two-color decks for me and AI.

I mostly play constructed, using Gos's decks. I also use my own decks, and I've added a few decks that belong to friends.
I'll play the generated theme decks and random multi-color decks from time to time, and I like draft and sealed when I have a few hours free.
I haven't tried Quest mode yet, it doesn't really sound like my thing.

I mostly only play Quest. Occassionally I'll draft to start a Quest. Other than that it's quick Constructed games for Debugging.

Wow, good responses. I'm glad to see that actually all of the different modes get used by different people. That's cool.
I played mostly draft at first, then I got sucked in to Quest mode.
I'm a pretty casual player so the Constructed thing is a little crazy for me. That's why I like the restricted options like in Quest or Draft or Sealed. I did try a few of gos's decks, more as a "wow, these decks are incredibly well constructed" thing.
