I may have gotten carried away when I modded Jack Sparrow 1. It may not have needed it. 8)

Spreading Seas causes a few drawing issues that can be confusing for some people. I hope to find enough free time to write some AI code for Political Trickery and Vedalken Plotter. These two cards could help the fear and landwalking decks.

I have considered letting the AI look at all cards in it's deck to see what kind of walkers it can find. I have not yet made a decission and I have been busy with other areas of our project. :D

Merged Sloth' toned down Darrin Stephens 1 deck.

I spent some time with the snow permanents deck. It looks like snow based mana is a "work in progress" and may not be yet ready for prime time.

I see what you mean about the AI being limited to just using the Skred spell. The computer attacked with Phyrexian Ironfoot and was not able to untap the creature. We may want to wait on this one deck.

I played a couple of games against the Aura Gnarlid and Rabid Wombat deck. I remember putting together a Rabid Wombat deck for the loacal gaming store when this card first came out. My deck only had the RW + auras + v Enchantresses and my mox. It was a lot of fun.

Your version of this deck really rocks, it may be a harder deck than medium. The creatures in this deck are very hard to kill since many are threat resistant. Do you think that this deck might be good enough for a quest assignment deck?

I reverted most of the changes that I made to the Jack Sparrow 1 deck. I have now only replaced two of the counter spells have been with a:

Yes, let's wait until the AI can use snow mana.

You own a mox  . The most expensive card I own, is a played Bayou.

Maybe an earlier quest assignment? I always wondered why the quests shouldn't start with less wins (like 10 or 15).

I was introduced to MtG while unlimited was still in print. Those were the wild days. I played at the local gaiming store for a few years and expansion packs. I burned out and the store closed, so I sold off my card collection over 10 years ago.

I think the quest assignment decks are kind of like the carrot hanging from the end of a stick. They are there but out of easy reach. This helps to give people a reason for playing a quest for far longer than 10 matches.

I guess the reason I made the quests decks only start at 25 is because I wanted to make them fairly difficult. They require a strong, balanced deck in addition to some good bazaar upgrades.

Here's another deck that might be suitable for (regular, not fantasy-exclusive) quest matches:

Code: Select all
60 Total Cards

13 Creatures
-------------
4x Deranged Hermit
1x Nut Collector
4x Squirrel Mob
4x Wall of Blossoms

25 Spells
----------
4x Acorn Harvest
4x Chatter of the Squirrel
3x Coat of Arms
2x Harmonize
4x Kodama's Reach
1x Mox Emerald
2x Naturalize
1x Overrun
4x Squirrel Nest

22 Land
--------
22x Forest
It would be cool if you could add this one Chris (as an Easy - Medium deck I suppose).
Maybe use Secret Squirrel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Squirrel) as the opponent

This deck looks fun, i think it should be medium (it can be explosive, but is easy to disrupt)

timmermac wrote:I've made a discard deck for the AI. It has a certain amount of potential.

4x Abyssal Specter
4x Blazing Specter
4x Guul Draz Specter
4x Hypnotic Specter
4x Sedraxis Specter

4x Coat of Arms
4x Bad Moon
4x Megrim
4x Liliana Vess
4x Hymn to Tourach
4x Coercion

4x Underground Sea
4x Watery Grave
4x Badlands
4x Blood Crypt
4x Crumbling Necropolis
This one should be hard. Definitely hard. And isn't 4 Liliana Vess a little bit too much?
By the way: In M11 there is a new Megrim for one mana less. Maybe I'm going to make a dedicated Megrim deck next.

Thank you Dennis, I will try to merge this deck into the SVN this weekend. I found a nice Secret Squirrel pic via google. :)

Thank you Timmermac. Rob coded a new keyword which allows a number of new discard spells. You may want to click on this link to get an idea of the new discard spells which will become available with the next beta revision. :D

Turns out that the M2011 cards are now available via WotC's gatherer search engine. The LQ card pics are also now online. I have not found the time to search through the cards to find ones that are keyword-able.

I decided to rank the Secret Squirrel deck after some play testing as a hard deck. I am trying to dredge up old memories of what is was like to rank and rate AI decks for the original quest mode. My memories have mostly faded.

I like the Secret Squirrel deck. The two decks that I played against it had some threat removal but not enough to make it a cake walk. I lost a few of the games that I played. Those squirrel tokens can get so big so quickly at times. 8)

I made the deck Ned Flanders 1 a lot easier (a turn four Artisan of Kozilek is too much).

Ned Flanders 1:

Maybe I should start modifying the SVN files directly. What do I have to do to get the rights? Send a message to DennisBergkamp?
